Founded in 1982, Cloud Dancers is a non-profit, Albuquerque-based recreational horseback-riding program for persons with disabilities. Cloud Dancers is a Member Center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and employs certified riding instructors who focus on our riders’ abilities. While many of our riders have very involved physical and developmental challenges (in the past few years, our riders have been challenged with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, multiple sclerosis, blindness, autism, and amputations), they have learned that, through riding, they can overcome many of the barriers they experience in their everyday life. Benefits to our riders include increased physical mobility, confidence, pride and responsibility.
