  The animal-handler team has been certified by an organization (either local or national) to have met the minimum behavior and socialization criteria for intervening with the general public.
   
  The minimum behavior and socialization criteria are based on the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
   
  Animal Assisted Therapy is goal directed and supervised by a licensed professional.
   
  The animal-handler team is an integral part of the therapy process.
   
  The therapy process and goals are documented.
