We are People and Animals Who Serve in community settings by providing emotional support with specially trained
animal/handler teams. PAAWS is an affiliate of Delta Society Pet Partner. We are based in Eugene, OR and were created
by a group of five women in 2003. PAAWS is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization (summer 2004). PAAWS
teams provide health benefits of the animal-human bond in educational, residential, medical and other community
settings. The founding board consists of Cindy Ehlers (founder of Hope Crisis Response, the original Animal Assisted
Crisis Relief Agency created in the late 1990s after the tragic school shooting at Thurston High School); Diane
Nichols; Anne Kraft; Ina Dunlap, and Elaine Pray. |
Project Pooch

Project Pooch brings together juvenile offenders from the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon,
with dogs from local shelters and rescue groups. Selected MacLaren students are paired with dogs for obedience
training to prepare the dogs for placement in permanent homes in the community. |

RideAble, an incorporated non-profit organization, is an equestrian program
for people with disablilites based in Eugene, Oregon. Our primary focus is to provide riding opportunities for
special needs people, and our staff has been giving lessons for over 10 years. Royal Heritage Farm, located on
the southwestern outskirts of Eugene, provides a home for the program. This facility includes an indoor arena,
a summer out-door arena, a permanent mounting ramp and platform and other amenities. |
