Central Ohio Good Shepherds Chapter #157 is the Columbus,
Ohio chapter of Therapy Dogs International. Director Angie Jones formed the chapter in 1998 to provide a place where other TDI members could come together to share in visits to area facilities that needed our certified and licensed dogs.

We visit childrens homes, senior citizens homes, and the Ohio State University Hospital. We also participate in the Mt. Carmel Hospice Program, and visit at St. Anne's Hospital in Columbus. We have annual general membership meetings and provide educational workshops on how to conduct proper visits in the different facilities we visit. We also have annual cook outs, and have awards given out at our Christmas party to outstanding volunteers, and to the most creative. We offer tests throughout the year, and educate the public at area major dog events. Interested persons can email Angie Jones at cogstd@ameritech.net. Angie will be more than happy to answer questions.

Doggie Brigade
Childrends' Hospital Medical Center of Akron

One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308
Contact: Volunteer Services, 330-543-8424

Since 1992, Children's Doggie Brigade has brought joy and comfort to sick kids. All dogs undergo a veterinary exam and a behavioral screening process to ensure their suitability for the program. Once accpted into the Brigade, both dogs and owners alike earn volunteer credit for their weekly or biweekly visits to the hospital.

Each week, members of Children’s Child Life staff write up a list of patients whose doctors have OK’d a dog visit. Now some 60 canines strong, these four-legged volunteers tour the hallways, visit patients in their rooms, and stop in the activity rooms to see children who are well enough to be out of bed.

Stephen Therapy and Riding (S.T.A.R.)
LaGrange, OH 44050
www.star7.org • Email: star7@eriecoast.com

Stephen Therapy and Riding is a non-profit (501)(c)(3) hippotherapy and therapeutic riding center in LaGrange, Ohio. It is the only such facility in Lorain County.

Our goal at S.T.A.R. is to provide quality hippotherapy and therapeutic riding for children with special needs. There are many physical, cognitive and psycho-social benefits to equine assisted therapy.

Students also benefit from participating in a sport where they are not limited by their special needs. The horses and the atmosphere of the stable make therapy sessions, which can become tedious for children, interesting and enjoyable.
