A recreational horseback riding program for people with disabilities. Astride is a volunteer, not for profit organization
whose mission is to help people with disabilities to ride horses. Astride was founded in 1978. It is a member operating
center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). We currently have two riding locations:
Tanglewood Farm in LaFayette and Smoke Tree Farm in Lysander. |

The Hudson Valley Humane Society Visiting Pet Program has been providing animal assisted services throughout Rockland
County, NY and Bergen County, NJ since 1992. Volunteers make regular visits to nursing homes, assisted living facilities,
jails, hospitals, libraries, and schools. The members of this 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization conduct regular
training programs for others who would like to participate in this rewarding volunteer activity. The group is a
Delta Society affiliate member and an affiliate of Reading Education Assistance Dogs. |
Long Island Riding for the Handicapped

Since 1978, LIRHA has provided cost-free horseback riding classes to physically
and emotionally challenged individuals. LIRHA is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.
At present, the staff consists of a physical therapist, three instructors, and volunteer coordinator. Of great
importance are the volunteers who are trained as side and lead walkers. The warmth and rapport that develops between
students and volunteers is apparent in every class. |

Pal-O-Mine Equestrian is a non-profit 501(c)(3) therapeutic horseback riding
program that brings remarkable benefits to those with disabilities by 'stretching' both mind and muscles. For someone
who can't walk, see, communicate, etc., riding a horse allows them to experience a new sense of freedom; they are
transported to where dreams come true and spirits soar! |

Founded in 1974, Winslow, a not-for-profit organization, is NARHA (North American
Riding for the Handicapped Association) accredited. Winslow provides both therapeutic riding and hippotherapy to
dozens of people each week with vision and hearing impairments, head trauma, stroke (CVR) learning disabilities,
cerebral palsy, multi handicapped, developmental delay and fetal alcohol syndrome. |
