Good Samaritan Health Systems in Kearney NE offers an Animal Assisted Therapy Program (AAP). The AAP is coordinated through the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Heather Hascall MA, CTRS serves as the coordinator of the program. Tami Fleshman CTRS is the educator, testor/observer. The program has been in existance for over 10 years. It presently has over 20 active certified teams. This program provides education, training and certification through Delta and Therapy Dogs, Inc. Our program serves our medical surgical hospital, behavioral health facility, area treatment group home for adolescent males, area school behavior disorder classroom, day care facilities, nursing and assisted living facilities and hospice care programming. A variety of professionals and volunteers are certified, educated and oriented to work in the individual areas in which they specialize.

Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy's mission is to provide equine assisted therapeutic activities to people with disabilities. HETRA has been serving Omaha and the surrounding communities in Nebraska since 1989. HETRA serves students with physical, cognitive, and emotional impairments through the program. Students form a unique bond with the horse and look forward to each session with great enthusiasm. HETRA received its National accreditation by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) in 1999 and is currently the only accreditied program in Nebraska.

Paws for Friendship is a non-profit volunteer 501(c)3 tax deductible organization. We visit hospitals, nursing homes, hospice centers, Uta Halee Girls Home, dialysis centers, care centers and schools with our pets. Several programs with the Nebraska Office on Aging, Foster Grandparent Programs, Alzheimer's Association and Camp Easter Seals are all groups we have been actively involved in locally. Our Chapters are starting all over the world.
