Equine-Facilitated Therapy for Adolescents at Risk. Serenata Farms School of Equestrian Arts has developed a horse-centered program for adolescents at risk in their environment. HorsePower is a cost-effective experiential program in which the client participates and experiences the therapeutic process in a caring, nurturing setting structured for success. HorsePower utilizes horse-centered therapy to improve behavior and prevent truancy by providing adolescents the life skills they need to stay in school. Life skills include trust, honesty, communication, boundary-setting and self-discipline for youngsters 10 to 17 years of age, and are achieved through horse-centered methodology. An instructor and adult assistants work with clients to provide a safe, structured curriculum and opportunities to succeed.
